I am soooo glad that it's Friday. I can finally have time to relax a bit and do some household work. it's been very busy this week. So many stuff to learn and understand at work. Since I just started recently, I am still on the process of learning. Training has been good to me. I learned different areas in accounting. Mainly, I am on Accounts Receivable but i do also help with Accounts Payable. On payables for now I learn how to search individual unit for each individual bills. I also did the posting one time check processing. Check processing only occur once in a week every Friday. Today, I am going to work with check processing again and now this is going to be faster than the last one. Well, I was a bit slow the first time for some reason. I thought that the training was a bit sloppy. This is what he said. Put the check in the printer, Go to Banking, and Click Check Processing. Then match the bank, check number, amount and the bill account numbers. Make sure that they are in order. After I am done with my check processing I found out that he was doing the opposite in matching and keeping the paper bills in order than what he told me. What he was doing is check the box as it shows in the software and find that specific account number in the paper bill. When cutting the voucher these bills doesn't have to be in order. What he told me was it has to be in order. That's why I told the supervisor that I appologize for the delay since this is my very first time I did the check run I should have asked questions to understand the process better and to save time doing the work.
Though check run is not a very hard work since mostly it's repetitive it was very time consuming and you can easily lost track if you are doing something else. You have to make sure that all the check numbers are matching or else if not you going to waste tons of checks if you already printed 50 or more invoices. Check run is gonna be one of my task today. Since I asked the A/P in-charge a bit more questions in regards with his check run process today should be a lot better than last week.
